Since 2011, our family has been breeding Bengal cats for people who want to experience the magic of this breed and the unique bond we create with our wild-looking loving Bengal companions. We are Empawrium Bengals, a small cageless TICA cattery located in Boston, MA. Our goal is to produce beautiful, healthy and sweet-natured kittens according to the Bengal breed standard. Our cats are our family, and we treat them with the utmost care and respect. Why Bengals?
Our commitment to bengals stems from a deep-rooted love for this extraordinary breed, whose journey began in the 1960s when the late Jean Mill embarked on a groundbreaking breeding program, seeking to create a domestic cat that possessed the exotic appearance of the Asian leopard cat. Through meticulous cross-breeding efforts, Jean successfully produced hybrids between Prionailurus bengalensis and domestic cats, laying the foundation for the Bengal breed. The first-generation hybrids, known as F1 Bengals, possessed the striking coat patterns of their leopard cat ancestors, but also some of the wild behaviors that made them unsuitable as pets for most households. Undeterred, Jean continued her breeding program, selectively crossing early-generation Bengals with domestic cats to produce subsequent generations with better temperaments while preserving the breed's distinctive appearance. Today, Bengals are cherished for their stunning coat patterns, which include spots, rosettes, and marbling, reminiscent of their wild heritage. They are also celebrated for their playful, intelligent, and affectionate nature, making them beloved companions for cat enthusiasts worldwide.
